The University Student Senate is pleased to announce that the 2025 USS Scholarship
applications are live until April 30th, 2025, at 11:59 PM!

Important Notice
All eligible students received notifications via the “To Do” tab on CUNYfirst.
CUNY students applying for the Donald & Mary Ellen Passantino Disability and the International Merit Scholarship must be registered with both the International and Disability offices at their respective CUNY campuses before applying.
USS Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
All the scholarships below are MERIT BASED and are not NEED BASED.
USS Donald and Mary Ellen Passantino Students with Disabilities Scholarship
- Award Amount: $1000
- Requirement: GPA 2.5 and must be a student with Disabilities.
- One student per CUNY campus, per academic year, is recognized for demonstrating outstanding scholarship, enthusiastic leadership, and a commitment to service under extraordinary circumstances.
USS International Students Merit Scholarship
- Award Amount: $1000
- Requirement: GPA 2.5 and must be an International Student.
- One student per CUNY campus, per academic year, is recognized for demonstrating outstanding scholarship, enthusiastic leadership, and a commitment to service under extraordinary circumstances.
USS Ernesto Malave Academic Scholarship
- Award Amount: $1500
- Requirement: GPA 3.5
- This scholarship was established in 1995 and renamed in 2010. One student per CUNY campus, per academic year, is awarded for demonstrating outstanding academic and leadership performance under extraordinary circumstances.
USS Graduate and Professional Schools Peer Mentoring Scholarship
- Award Amount: $1000
- Requirement: GPA 3.0 and must be a Graduate student.
- One student per Senior College and two students at the Professional Schools (CUNY School of Law, CUNY Graduate Center, etc.) are recognized for helping fellow graduate students through academic, professional, and leadership support.

- Q: Can USS Delegates or Alternates apply?
A: No, current USS Delegates or Alternates may not apply. - Q: Can I apply if I’m graduating this semester?
A: No, you must be returning for the Fall 2025 semester. - Q: Are undocumented international students eligible?
A: No, undocumented students are not eligible for the scholarships. - Q: Do I need to be registered with the Disability or International Office?
A: Yes, you must be registered with the respective office before applying. - Q: When does the application close?
A: April 30th, 2025, at 11:59 PM.
